I need to replace an old air conditioner unit- to cool off 3 large rooms on first floor of my house and the outlet is a220 line. Most new air conditioners say 230. Can i do this?

I have a 2004 Trailblazer and lately whenever I start my air conditioner it smells like stale water or something really nasty. The smell comes out only for a few seconds. This has never happened before. Does anyone know what it can be or how to fix it?

hi..actually according to our room space 1ton AC split AC is the best itseems and we dont have any idea about what features should be looked after for the best one…like how many stars,power consumption,necessity of stabliser and…so pls anyone tell us the details..my frns has suggested me 2star LG 1ton split AC so v already ordered it…but wanted to know whether it is good or need to exchange…so pls help…

The other room is pretty small, and the air conditioner is 24000 BTU
after 5 minutes the small room where the hot air goes gets sooo much hotter, even I have placed a fan to get the hot air out from the window of the small room, it doesnt help, would this in any way stop the air conditioner to work more efficiently? Because it is blowing pretty strong and I can see it brings some water with it to the cooling room.

Before you classify this as a stupid question, think of this. The small motor that turns the fan at the top of the unit is maybe 2 amps and uses about 20 dollars worth of electricity in a month, if that much. However, the compressor makes my electric meter spin like a wild top out of control. Running the air conditioner makes my electric bill increase by roughly three hundred or more dollars each month — or more. By the way, my unit is only eight years old. Does anyone realize that true wealth and prosperity beyond imagination await the man that invents a genuine energy-saving compressor? So here is my real question : What the heck is in a compressor that sucks the electricity like a vampire? What could possibly be inside a compressor that uses so much juice?

My dad turned off the central air conditioner for the house last winter, but he’s no longer around to turn it back on…anyway, we have no idea how to turn it on for the summer season! I’m not even sure which brand of air conditioner it is unfortunately, but any ideas would be appreciated.

The air conditioner is new just bought it last week but it is for windows that open up, my windows slide to the left. I asked the store I bought it from and they said frame it in with wood or card board or blah blah. Just wondering if there is a product out there to make it fit, and more securely? Mine is currently held in bye a piece of wood and card board, I am worried any one could just walk by and steal my air conditioner.

Hi. I was planning on spraying Ozium into my window air conditioner to eliminate a heavy smoking smell. Apparently, Ozium is a common deodorizer that works on smoking smells; you can get it at Wal-Mart. Is this a good idea? Should it work? Thanks.

A few weeks ago I noticed water condensing around the vents in my car when running the AC. And now the air conditioner will not blow cold air. The power of the air flow has not changed and the heat works fine. Any ideas? Does it just need Freon or is there maybe a bigger problem? Thanks so much!

My window Air Conditioner ( In My Home ) ( LG Brand ) has ice on the insside grill & on small tubes going thru them.

It doesn’t give enough cooling either although it is pretty new ( Little over 1 Year old ) It was serviced just a few days ago.

The compresser gets really hot.

Although it gives little cooling, the Thermostat reading doesn’t change.

The LG service centre guy doesn’t seem to know what is going on & he said it was left over moisture after the last service so he took it out of window & dried it but problem is still there & now he says it needs coolant which doesn’t make sense because if there wasn’t enough cooling there wouldn’t be ice on the grill & tubes.

Can anyone help ?

I want to develop a small, roof mount, air conditioner for my taxi cab, that would allow me to turn the engine off during the heat of the day, and still remain cool. Taxi cab regulations requires that when temperatures rise above 85, I must use my A/C when I have passengers, and that the car must be cool when they get in. Sitting for an hour or more in the sun, waiting for a call a for someone to come out of a hotel and get the cab rather warm. It takes time to cool it back down.

Hi, I live in a one bedroom apartment with a living room. And I wouldn’t like to buy two air from each room. So I’m planning on getting a portable one, to switch from room to room. But can anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages? What brand is the best? Where is the water from the air conditioner going to go? Does it waste more electricity than the regular air?

By the way it is almost 9 years old.
I’ve cleaned the filters, but still it is not cooling and stopped the AC restarted once the ice melted but the ice came back again.
What else can I do?

I keep an air conditioner in my bedroom during the summer. The air conditioner does not properly fit so there are a few gaps left. This year I took extra measures to plus those gaps. So I’m wondering if its possible to suffocate from sleeping in a room with an air conditioner on, as the only gaps for air to travel through will be under the door.

i really don’t want to hire somebody and be charged like 400 bucks. i rather do it myself`. i set the air conditioner at 75, its like it has to use 3 times as much electricity to get the temperature lower.

What are some things that I should consider when buying one?
Good price for an airconditioner? Brand? Power?
I am planning to air conditioner my small apartment, not just a room.

My window is 20×20 and the air conditioner i’m interested in is 12×17.28×11.15. Is this going to fit? How do I know? I have never bought a window air conditioner before and I feel overwhelmed and confused.

I bought a new window air conditioner 5 years ago, and aside from installing and removing it every year, I haven’t touched it. What should I be doing to keep it running efficiently and extend its life? thats easy for this girl to do?

I have a window air conditioner, and it keep freezing over. Its not cooling well, at all, there seems to be little air coming out of it. I have tried washing it out. I have cleaned the filter. I keep having to turn it off every 45 minutes or so for about 20 minutes to thaw. The humidity here is high, does that have any effect on it? My landlord has been here yet to look at it.

I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee. The air conditioner seems to have a problem with it. It will be working fine, then it will stop blowing cold air and start blowing humid air with a musty kind of smell. I’ve heard this could be the compressor? Is this the likely cause? If so, what is a rough estimate on how much this will cost to be fixed? I’m mainly concerned on how much it will cost to fix.

I’m a first time homebuyer and I’m buying a home as is, I think I’m getting lucky though because the only big thing on the inspection was having the air conditioner serviced and cleaned. It is a two story home with a 5 ton air conditioner I don’t know the brand but I know the coil is in the upper crawlspace and it needs to be cleaned.
